There are a number of studies (books) in the past few years about the similarity between the rise of Mussolini and Hitler, and recent trends in the United States. I read Leonard Peikoff's "Ominous Parallels" over a decade ago, and there is a more recent book on this growing totalitarianism by some left-of-center writer (forget her/s name). I was spotting Giuliani as the most authoritarian among the GOPers, but you are correct about McCain.

McCain does remind me of a German stormtrooper. If he were elected, he would think nothing of amassing power and taking away more of our freedoms. I am sure your father would have agreed.

We have already seen the equivalent of the Nazi SS and the Soviet Secret Police when our government agents went to Elian Gonzalez's home in the middle of the night and took him away from his family.

The Thought Police here will be as bad as any Communist regime or Nazi Germany in a few years.

There seems to be no outcry from the public about Homeland Security or more government surveillance.

Perhaps because school children are too busy getting sex ed, and have been fed revisionist history, the general public seems to have no sense that we are now a Fascist state on the way to being a Communist one.

Well, "Alice" decided not to respond. So I figured out a way to post her comment in spite of the fact that she left a bogus e-mail address.

I originally titled this photo "Driving Miss Hillary." She thought that was a racist title. I deferred to her because, assuming she is being truthful about her race, she certainly knows more about what racial prejudice feels like than I do. So I changed the title. Although I did wonder if she thought the movie title "Driving Miss Daisy" was racist, and therefore Morgan Freeman, who starred in it, is a racist or somehow sold out to racism by making the movie.

"Alice," you make what otherwise could be valid points. But posting a phony e-mail address damages if not destroys your credibility. Too bad.

Mr. Mencarow,

I really wish you'd advised to tighten up their lending criteria (i.e. geographical areas, ARVs, borrower qualifications) rather than stop lending completely.

Some of us real estate wholesalers out there who depend on hard money and give good returns actually involve our hard money lenders' criteria in our continually evolving market strategies.

My favorite hard money lender has suffered through a bunch of bad loans recently but he wouldn't dream of cutting off right now...there's simply still too much money to be made.

Thanks.

Ps. I've enjoyed your journals and your emails for years.

Pretty funny picture.

I'm not sure what Alice thought, but I didn't think it was negative. It was slightly tongue-in-cheek and a good one.

I agree that Huckabee was blatantly sabotaging Romney's chances and stacking the deck for McCain. It was not a surprise though considering Huckabee's past. I believe McCain is the worst thing that could possibly happen to the integrity of the Republican party. To say he is a moderate republican is bologna. There is nothing that makes him anything but liberal. McCain-Feingold, the "league of 14", McCain-Kennedy, pathetic border patrol as border state legislator, fiscal spender...the ONLY thing I can see that makes him ANY better than Hillary is his health care plan. Other than that it may be worse for him to win than Hillary or Obama. If he gets it, then there will be times that congressional republicans are forced to go along with him for party reasons and will not be able to oppose demolition of conservative statutes. At least if a Dem is president, congress can vote against the garbage...sorry for the rant...just can't believe the party let this happen.

BTW, you missed the point. This posting is favorable to Sen. Obama.

Mr. W. J. Mencarow,

Where is the joke? I see ethnic prejudice!
Before this gesture, I had great respect for you.

I have purchased products from you and Alyson in the past.
Your attempt at humor on your blog showing the caption:
Driving Miss Hillary, speaks to me of Ethnic prejudice and
yes, even bigotry, I won't spend my money with people
who disrespect me or my ethnicity.

I am an African American, Black, the going terms that
classify myself and people of my culture and pigment, hue.

You send me a notation in an email speaking of Bibles
and giving of Bibles in a missionary effort, well I find it
rather hypocritical to expound the giving of the gospel
when you do things that have the appearance of evil
and inflict injury by expounding social ignorance that
perpetuates prejudice.

The scripture says to avoid all appearance of evil. Your
gesture in the pictorial and caption suggest, that the issue
of a Black Man running for president against a Caucasian
woman somehow suggest to you the Driving Miss Daisy
movie, which was mainly about the bigotry and ethnic
prejudice of the south.

I find your association of Senator Obama with the Driving
Miss Daisy movie reference offensive and an attempt at
character assassination.

Mr. Obama is a well educated intellectual Black man. Not
only is he equal, but perhaps more excelled than anyone
on the political scene today. The only draw back that he
has is the deficient mindset and disrespect of individuals
who think like the caption you are sharing.

Mr. Obama is a servant in the cause of all people in the
position he holds as a US Senator. Slavery is abolished,
but I see ethnic prejudice is very much alive.

"I forgive you for your implied gesture of disrespect here..."

But, if what you placed on your blog is really how you think,
then please unsubscribe me from your list and I will make sure
to share how you feel with others, Blacks and Caucasian.

The joke (caption, photo) AIN'T (is not) funny, but such a
deficient mindset is very sad.

I've learned a great deal from your courses over the years and have a
question for you:

I have an investor looking for bad notes on mobile homes here in
Texas (He bought 1,048 notes last year alone!)... do you know where I could
start looking for this type of paper?

 Thanks!
